I am in cold, snowy Colorado, but I’m so happy to be here because this is where I get to spend my winter break with my beautiful boy and volunteer with the wolves.
Last week, I talked to you about trying a happiness experiment, and here’s what it is:
Every time someone asks you, "How are you doing?" your answer is simply, "I’m happy."
Our usual automatic response tends to be, "I’m fine" or "I’m good."
But imagine truly saying — "I’m happy" — thinking of those little things that bring gratitude.
Maybe it's the fact that you're healthy or someone you love is healthy. That you have a job, food in the pantry, or hot running water.
Think about everything that a refugee arriving here might long for when they arrive with nothing but the clothes on their back.
You have so much to be thankful for—and that’s where happiness starts.
So, here's my challenge to you for one week.
Whether it's in the grocery store line or talking with a friend, every time someone asks how you are, tell them, "I’m happy."
See how it makes you feel. And I'd love for you to share your experience with me.
I hope you have an amazing day.
I'm coming to you again from Colorado at Mission: Wolf, where I've coming to volunteer for three years.
It's coooold, but that's okay because I'm happy.
Speaking of happy, I want to do a happiness experiment.
When people ask me how I'm doing, I intentionally say, "I'm happy."
And I think, because I'm saying that I'm happy, it can really turn things around for me, even if I'm having a crappy day.
I've learned there are so many simple things we can be happy about:
What's one simple thing you can be happy about today?
Next week I'm going to talk to you more about this happiness experiment so you can go along this ride with me.
Until then, I hope you have an amazing and happy day!
My voice is a little hoarse today.
It's one of two things.
Either allergies...
or the fact that I screamed so hard at my son's robotics competition, and we got 9th place!
I'm so excited.
You might wonder why I'm so excited for 9th place?
Well, compared to last year — they were 30 something — it is a major leap forward.
It's like a whole new team.
They are growing exponentially.
And I know some of y'all are having a really hard time because of the election, and stepping into fear.
But I want to encourage you.
You can be happy no matter what the situation.
If you're upset about something, do something about it.
And then allow yourself to step back into joy.
Don't let yourself live in fear.
Enjoy 9th place at the robotics competition.
I'm hanging out with a little kitty cat today that I call Ragdoll, because when you pick her up, she's like a little ragdoll in your hands.
I'm having a blast.
But it wasn't so great earlier...
I had my work shirt on and she clawed a big hole in it because she was having a good time too.
But I made a choice.
Do I want to go back into the cuteness of this kitty?
Or do I want to stay in the Oh, my gosh, she ruined my shirt?
Shirts can be replaced.
Happiness is a choice.
So I'm choosing to stay in the now and just love spending time with this beautiful kitty cat.
I hope you choose happiness today.
And I hope you get to hang out with a kitty cat soon, too.
I have finally settled down in New Braunfels, Texas with my son after a month of traveling.
We visited Mission Wolf in Colorado, spent time with my family in North Carolina, and then rushed back here to find a new home.
Last year, I was so happy because I loved living in my RV.
But this year, my son wanted something different. So we found a great house to call home.
And you know what?
That’s okay. In fact, it's better than okay.
Because happiness is a choice.
It doesn’t matter if I’m living in an RV or a house—what matters is how I choose to feel.
And how my son feels.
Happiness is all about perspective. We can always choose to see the good in our situation.
I hope you’ll make the choice to be happy—no matter where you are or what you’re going through.
And I hope you have an amazing day!
Today I'm talking about making the choice to be happy — making the choice to get in a better mood and be in a higher vibrational state.
This is because I saw a meme last week that was hilarious.
It said: "Are you having a bad day?...
...or have you had a bad five minutes but you've been milking it all day?"
That's what we do.
We ruminate about stuff that we have no control over when we can just let it go instead.
Yesterday, I had a student who walked in and said, "I'm pissed off! The bus went around a different way, and I was late."
She stayed upset for a long time.
I finally said, "You're choosing to stay upset because of what the bus driver did an hour ago instead of letting it go."
She smiled because she didn't even realize she was doing it.
If something comes up, take the next right step, whatever you can do. And then let it go, because you have no control of persons, places, or things.
I would love for you today to choose to be happy.
Be cognizant of what you are putting in your brain and the words that are coming out of your mouth. Are you milking it because it's only been five minutes, or is it really a bad day?
I hope you have an amazing day.
My advice for you today…HAVE FUN!
Get out there and do something that you love.
You could...
If you are feeling stressed, you have to change your state. Give it some different energy and focus your mind on something you would love.
Whatever it is, do something fun TODAY. Enjoy life! You are only given this moment once. You never know when it is going to end.
So enjoy today, embrace it, and turn it around to make it a good one!
